INDOOR VS OUTDOOR WEDDINGS: WHICH ONE IS FOR YOU?

August 15, 2024

So you’ve found your perfect soul mate, now it’s time to decide the venue for your big day which will be
remembered by all your guests. Indoor and outdoor weddings both have their benefits and drawbacks. The right
choice depends on your preference.

Indoor Pros:

· An indoor venue offers safety from the elements as unpredictable, inclement weather forecasts are not a
problem. You don’t need to worry about your guests getting drenched in heavy rain, especially in monsoon season,
nor do you need to worry about them sweating in the sweltering heat of the scorching sun in the summer or freezing
in the cold during winter. Fans, air conditioners, and heaters inside will ensure the climate is temperate and your
guests are comfortable no matter the weather outside. This means you can choose any date you want for your
special day giving you a lot more control.

· The indoor space is like a blank canvas that can be transformed in any way you like. There are plenty of design
opportunities available for backdrops and decorations on the walls and ceilings. Ambiance can be created according
to the wedding theme. The possibilities are endless.

· An enclosed space provides an intimate setting that gives a cozy vibe. Guests can intermingle easily without
outside interference or noises etc.

Indoor Cons:

· Limited capacity is a concern, as there will be a cap on the guest count depending on the venue, so you need to
book accordingly. Furthermore, you may have to follow the rules and regulations of the venue.

· Setting up a blank indoor space with décor, flowers et cetera comes with a hefty price tag.

· Artificial lighting, often requiring flash, will produce less aesthetically appealing photographs.

· Due to closed space, your photographer will be restricted in movement and things may become chaotic coming
in the way of getting desired shots.

· It will feel formal.

· Indoor venues are high in demand so they may be hard to book especially in busy wedding seasons. You often
have to book months in advance or pay a premium rate.

Outdoor Wedding Pros:

· Natural landscapes and beautiful scenery provide a stunning picturesque backdrop for your wedding. Whether
it’s in the woods, on a beach, on a lakefront, in meadows, lush lawns, gardens, or in the mountains, being immersed
in nature is an unforgettable experience. Getting married under the big blue sky is magical in itself. You can save
the cost of décor as nature itself is backdrop enough.

· Natural lighting can produce spectacular images, especially in daylight or golden hour. The quality compared
to artificial lighting is vastly superior, adding vibrancy to your images.

· There is ample space to accommodate a large guest count and for children to run around and play. A play area
can be set up for toddlers to enjoy, ensuring they’re busy and entertained so outdoors are more family-friendly.

· A relaxed, casual, and laid-back vibe will make the guests feel comfortable.

Outdoor Wedding Cons:

· Timing of the wedding can only be during certain seasons when the weather is pleasant and agreeable which
limits your options and gives you less control over the date.

· Hiring a tent to protect against being drenched in the rain comes at a cost and the tent still may not prove
enough protection against strong winds in a storm as it may collapse. You might need to have a backup contingency
plan.

· Logistics have to be considered as arranging a dance floor, chairs et cetera will be costly. Electrical outlets and
restrooms have to be arranged. Extensive decorations will also be costly. Similarly, air conditioners in the outdoors
to protect against heat and humidity and heaters in winter to protect against the cold will be costly.

· Pests such as mosquitoes, flies, bugs et cetera may disturb your guests and be a nuisance. Mosquito repellants
will have to be provided.
